Barbara Farris

Barbara’s ceramics and glass are a mixture of both functional pieces and also decorative objects.  She uses natural coloured glazes for her work, mostly in shades of green mixed with various oxides.  Her smoke-fired pieces create an almost agate-like effect so that the pieces resemble natural stone.

Her glasswork fuses copper, silver and aluminium leaf and various glass powders.  Her designs are very free flowing and inspired by precious and base metals such as gold, silver and bronze and natural jewels, such as rubies, aquamarines and emeralds.  She particularly enjoys working with heavy glass as it provides an intensity of depth and colour.
