Jan Elliott

Jan’s paintings are about light and atmosphere.  She is particularly interested in the continuously changing colours and patterns found in cloud formations at different times of day and in varying weather conditions.  Her close observation of these transient light qualities is conveyed using a traditional oil painting technique that relies upon the optical mixing of layers of opaque and transparent paint to create complex visual effects.  Her aim is to delight by capturing the sensations that we can experience daily, if we take the time to look up!
