Having previously worked in ceramics and glass Barbara attended bookbinding workshops in Cambridge, Barbara uses a selection of Italian writing and artist papers including Fabriano for the bookblocks which are sewn with linen thread. The outer papers are a mix of printed marbled papers, Japanese Chiyogami silk screen papers and various contemporary and vintage papers. The old technique of hand stitching is a process that Barbara finds therapeutic and rhythmical and matching the various papers and bindings is a hugely satisfying experience.
